A great opportunity for a junior copper trader to join a global mining company based in Shanghai.

The ideal candidate will identify new business opportunities aiming for generating extra value propositions for Base Metals with a focus on copper and stainless steel industries, to support the base metals trading activities on the ground.
 
KEY TASKS
Commercial value generation

Support the development of Marketing strategies for China in the Base Metals space
Direct customer engagement to support the understanding of customer needs and enhancing existing business relationships + developing new customers.
Develop and support the delivery of business opportunities in the BMM trading/marketing space in China
Providing support to generate understanding of China’s BM markets/customers for Copper MI function in London and Copper MI team in Singapore.
o Representing us at conference and supporting the development/brand building of our platform based on the solid understanding of technologies engaged by concerned industries.
Providing market and customer input to help the central book team forming on trading views and optimisation decision.
Sound understanding of market trends, opportunities and customer needs to provide regular input for copper book optimisation and input to sourcing team to support sourcing activities.
Support the head of BM marketing China to develop Marketing strategies for China in the Base Metals space targeting Cu industry by generating/leveraging true insight on value in use, market intelligence and market segmentation.
Assist BM marketing intelligence (Cu team in Singapore and S/S MI function in London) with the delivery of market intelligence by direct interaction with BM customers and attending professional gatherings/conferences. Support and contribute to the group’s understanding of China BM concerned industries by maintaining direct communication with the commodity research function in London
Execute the commodity regional strategy within Marketing’s defined risk and governance framework.

What we’re looking for
Degree educated with a qualification in a relevant subject area
5 years+ relevant working experience
An understanding of the macroeconomics, political issues and downstream sectors such as real-estate and manufacturing that affects the industry.
Understanding of commodity physical and financial trading 
Project management skills
